I have found this elective extremely useful as I have learnt new skills and techniques on drawing fashion illustrations. I have tested out a lot of different and new medias such as watered down ink, chalk, oil pastels, charcoal and chalk.
I have also learnt that I can use crafting knifes, cut out pictures, rubbers and stencils to create fashion drawings. I feel most confident with using ink and graphite pencil, I will most surely use these two medias again in the future.
My favourite part of the elective was actually putting the large book of drawings together as I could see how they look once they are all put together, I also think it’s a good book of drawings for future reference.
IMAGES WHICH I USED TO INSPIRE MY WORK

My least favourite part of the elective was the starting point drawing quick drawings using ink as most of them did not turn out as I expected, with these I worked over the top of them in a different media to make them look more presentable, this was another new skill I have learnt as I would usually throw a drawing away which I was not happy with but now I can work over the top to create a more suitable image.
I am most happy with the four large drawings as I did these last I was more confident with using the different medias in which the drawings turned out most successful.
I found it quite difficult to work on a larger scale as I am used to working on A3 size, but I feel that this has helped me overall due to working on different scales. I now know that working on long strips of paper is my favourite scale, as the figure looks more in proportion due to having longer legs.
I am least happy with the four quick drawings in ink done on the first day, as these were my first attempts they look the least professional, after doing more of these I am happier with how they turn out each time.
If I were to do this project again I would try to produce a lot more drawing on Photoshop and scan more of the drawings in to reduce them to a smaller or larger scale, this gives it’s a more professional look. I would also use a bigger range of media and draw about three drawings in each media rather then pages and pages.
I have tested out one drawing on Photoshop which I was pleased with as it gave a brilliant effect to the grain of paper in the background, I also changed the colour on this to give it a bolder effect. I scanned in my favourite drawings and reduced them to a smaller size, which did give it a more professional look. I also scanned in a range of eyes that I drew taking inspiration from fashion design books. I blew and reduced these to get a range of sizes I then stuck them on some of my fashion drawings which give it a more ‘fashiony scrapbook’ look I have never used this technique before but I love how it looks on the page. I have used this on one of my large-scale drawings adding lips as well.
Overall I have thoroughly enjoyed this elective and feel that it was extremely useful to me due to learning new skills, which will help me in the future. The only downfall was that I found the time very consuming.
